Hi, I’m Cindy—the dyer and maker behind Little Desert Yarns. I’m a mum of five, including a set of energetic twin toddlers, and life in our little corner of Goroke, Victoria, is as vibrant and full of texture as the yarns I create.
My journey into the world of wool began in a practical way: with cloth nappies. I discovered the magical properties of wool when I began knitting soakers for my babies, and what started as a necessity quickly grew into a deep love for natural fibres, fibre arts, and the endless joy of working with colour.
That love evolved into Little Desert Yarns, where creativity meets sustainability. Here, I hand-dye small batches of premium-quality yarn, inspired by the breathtaking landscapes and wildlife of the nearby Little Desert National Park. From the golden hues of desert sands to the deep blues of the night sky, every colourway is a reflection of the world around me—and a piece of my life as a maker and mother.
